Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

Establishes guidelines for NMSU employees conducting research or academic programs involving biological agents which are potentially harmful to the environment; potentially pathogenic to humans (including human body fluids), animals, or plants as well as projects involving recombinant DNA. It guides and supports the work of the university's researchers toward these goals. It hopes to develop awareness toward personal and environmental safety in the faculty and staff.

NMSU researchers using or planning to use biological agents including recombinant DNA must submit the scope of their research to the committee for approval and guidance.
