ITAR Prohibited Export Destinations
Section 126.1 of ITAR states the policy of the United States to deny licenses for shipments to, and imports from, the following countries:
- Belarus
- Cuba
- Eritrea
- Iran
- North Korea
- Syria
- Venezuela
In addition, with certain exceptions, exports are not permitted under ITAR to countries on which the United Nations Security Council maintains an arms embargo. These countries currently include:
- Cote d’Ivoire
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Eritrea
- Iraq
- Iran
- Lebanon
- Liberia
- Libya
- North Korea
- Somalia
- Republic of the Sudan
Licensing restrictions rather than absolute or comprehensive prohibitions are in place for certain other countries.
